Rick Dahlgren has a tremendous amount of successful experience working with at-risk students. He is a master educator with experience in elementary and secondary classrooms and at the university level. He is the President and Founder of Time To Teach and the Center for Teacher Effectiveness.

Rick has trained over 300,000 teachers! He is especially known for his engaging speaking style, practical ideas and common sense approach to effective classroom and school-wide management. His innovative ideas are helping teachers across America and Canada and he regularly presents at national, regional, and local conferences and for schools and districts. Rick Dahlgren is constantly validating and testing his ideas for challenging students in diverse classrooms throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad.

Rick Dahlgren and his Associates are particularly known for their seminars being extremely enjoyable, fast-paced, and centered around scores of practical ideas, suggestions, and useful materials. He has published numerous books for teachers and parents over the past decade.


Melanie A. Lattimer is a master and mentor teacher, national presenter, and author who is passionate about education and positively impacting classrooms everywhere. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at California State University, Northridge, and a Master of Arts degree in education at California State University, San Bernardino. Her experience in education includes having taught grades first through fifth in lower-socioeconomic, inner-city schools in the greater Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside Counties in California.

Melanie is a Director for the Center for Teacher Effectiveness and enjoys traveling across the nation sharing Time To Teach strategies with k-12 teachers and administrators. As a leader among educators and a prominent force in sharing knowledge and teaching research-based strategies, Melanie continues to positively impact education by assuming leadership roles in her school and district, including being named the 2007 San Jacinto Unified School District Teacher of the Year.


Contributing Authors

Kim R. Beels, ECYA/ENS has taught sixth grade children with exceptional needs in special setting, resource, and collaborative models for 12 years. In addition to her teaching, Kim has been involved with mentoring and evaluating first and second year teachers, training education candidates, and working with the Corps of Mentor Teachers sponsored by Winthrop University's College of Education.

She has developed a reflective journal for teaching candidates and a first year teacher handbook and guidebook. Kim obtained her National Board Certification in the area of exceptional needs, and she continues to work closely with National Board candidates and is a regional liaison for the National Board in the state of South Carolina. Kim has trained educators all across the country.


Kelly Graham is a principal in Northern California and has been an educator for 22 years, predominantly at the high school level. He has held positions that include Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, AP Government Teacher, Head Football Coach, Head Tennis Coach, and most importantly, teacher and parent. In his spare time Kelly trains for The Center for Teacher Effectiveness across the western United States enjoying the camaraderie and travel.
Terry Shick is a highly experienced Exceptional Needs teacher who has been in the public school classroom for the past 25 years. She received her National Board Certification in 2001 and continues to mentor/coach fellow candidates throughout the nation. She is also a trainer and coach for teachers and administrators in implementing an effective and "best practice" language arts and math program. She has been trained in the Santa Cruz Mentoring Model and continues to actively mentor first and second year teachers for her district.
Greg Solomon has shared for over two decades his passion for the future and demonstrates by example, the qualities of leadership through personal integrity and dedication to others as a classroom teacher and non-profit director/board member. A master teacher and motivator, Greg has taught leadership and motivation techniques for the California Leadership Academy for 14 years. Now in education for 23 years, Greg teaches instrumental music at Vista Heights Middle School in Moreno Valley. He is a national presenter for the Center for Teacher Effectiveness and a sought after judge and clinician for the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association. He has been married for 24 years and has two children.
